This six-week intermediate course is for those who have already completed the Introduction to Pastels Course or are already familiar with the basics and want to continue to enhance their skills. During the classes we will explore various techniques in more depth and there will be demonstrations on how to successfully build a pastel painting including tips on how to create stunning compositions and loosen your style without losing the plot! There may be the opportunity to practise decisive mark-making working with a live model and using charcoal with pastel. Bring along any photos or artists' work that inspire you so we can discuss how you would like to develop as a pastel artist and help inspire others within the group.

NEXT COURSE: Please contact Kate if you would like to book a place on the next one.

COST: £310 for 6 classes of 3 hours (includes hiring a model).

If you have heard that pastels are messy, well that’s true but persevere because they can be so rewarding and with Kate’s guidance you can develop a style where they can be blended to create beautiful results.

Thank you once again for an enjoyable and inspirational course. You have enthused and encouraged me to do several pastel paintings to take advantage of your excellent tuition. I have learnt so much on attempts at foliage, sunlight, landscape, lost and found edges and composition. I cannot wait to do some more. Your critique and the groups’ comments during the course have been invaluable, at times hilarious but so refreshing. One gets very focused on parts of a painting and does not look at it as a whole. So a big thank you to everyone, it has been wonderfully liberating.

A really useful course - hands on demos and clear instruction
